Originally, this blog was all about a volunteer trip we took to Southeast Asia. But being that we’re back – and back for a long while, we figure we’d keep everyone updated on this blog.
Long story short, we’ve moved to Bangkok for the time being and starting a new beginning in life.
Thanks for your support and encouragement.
Welcome to our blog about our trip to Southeast Asia. We are both part of The Blind Project (www.theblindproject.com), a non-profit aimed at raising awareness and helping rescued victims of human / sex trafficking.
In February 2009 we will visit various countries in Southeast Asia and serve at local orphanages, safe-houses, and organizations that aid rescued victims. We will listen to their needs and try to address them the best we can.
We’re both taking a leave of absence from our jobs in New York and taking a financial hit for this volunteer trip. That said, we feel extremely fortunate to be able to do this and, more so, to be able to use our specific skills. As an optometrist, Downy will give free eye exams at many of the shelters, and as an art director, I will spread awareness through advertising and media.
Thank you very much for your encouragement and prayers as we embark on this mission.
